The Mississauga Terriers Hockey Club Inc. was established in 1977 by a small group of parents spearheaded by Mr. Joe Schembri. His inspiration was simple; he wanted to provide an opportunity to children in Mississauga to play hockey, despite not knowing anything about the game. His passion and determination made that a reality and although it has been over four decades since our inception, those traits are what still rein true today in our organization. For his efforts, Mr. Schembri was inducted into the Mississauga Sports Hall of Fame on June 8, 2017.
The Terriers are, and continue to be recognized as, the premier “AA” minor hockey organization in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). Players, coaches, parents and extended families truly are given an experience unmatched by any other. The Club was incorporated as a non-share capital corporation (also referred to as a not-for-profit corporation) by Letters Patent issued by the Province of Ontario on December 13, 1979 as Ontario Corporation 433650.

The Club operates under these Rules of Operation, its Bylaws and the rules of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (the “GTHL”). The Club operates its business based on these Bylaws, initially enacted on May 1, 1980 and amended as required on April 2, 2000 and again on July 19, 2011.
We are proud to represent our community within the boundaries of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL), the Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) and Hockey Canada (HC). Over the years, our teams have produced numerous OHF Championships, Toronto City Championships and countless tournament and league championships. As our teams travel throughout Ontario, in many other provinces, the United States and around the world, we strive for and have been recognized as a high quality, high class minor hockey organization. Many of our Terrier players have gone on to play at the highest level. We act as a springboard so players can develop their hockey and life skills in order to take their individual game to the next level. It is our goal to help get our players to: “AAA”, Canadian universities, NCAA universities and ultimately to the NHL or other professional ranks.
