The Terrier U17’s scored a hat-trick this past weekend winning 3 tournament championships in one season. That’s new Terriers record! First they won the Salute to the Services in Detroit in November, beating top USA U17 and U18 teams. They followed that championship with the championship win at the U18 Paul Coffey in December. And this past weekend, they won the Toronto Aeros Winter Classic in the U18 division. That’s not a typo! The other 5 teams were all U18’s, from Brantford, Kingston, LaSalle (Windsor), Burlington and Markham.
We had 3 wins and a tie in the round robin, advancing to the finals against Brantford. It was a story book final, with the Terries trailing 1 – 0, then pulling the goalie and tying it with under a minute to go. We scored the winner just 1 minute into the 3 on 3 sudden death.
Congratulations to head coach James DeSanto, his staff and the players for an amazing accomplishment.
