The U14 Terriers headed to Buffalo to win the 51st Gene Harrington Shootout Classic.

The team was pressured even before the start of the first game. Nine teams competing, with only the top two teams playing in a Championship Game on Sunday. Without a semi final, Round Robin needed to be perfect.

Friday saw them win both of their games against Seaway Valley Rapids, then a tough Biggby Coffee AAA team from Michigan that required a third period comeback. They kept rolling on Saturday with wins against Ajax Pickering Raiders and South Simcoe Storm. Mission was complete, round robin was perfect.

Advancing to the Sunday finals, the Terriers faced South Shore Kings AAA from Massachusetts. The Kings came out flying with 2 goals in the first 4 mins of the game. The Terriers didn’t back down and tied the game 2-2 before the end of the first period. The Kings fired back with goals in the second and early in the third periods. With eleven minutes left in the game the Terriers found themselves back in a two goal deficit. Determined, resilient and a “never give up” attitude, in fine “SHOOTOUT” fashion, the Terriers scored a total of 5 unanswered goals to end the game. With a final score of 7 to 4, the U14 Terriers take the Championship north of the border!

Congratulations to the players, coaching staff and families for an absolutely memorable and perfect weekend.
